Night of the Magi: Folk Magic of Epiphany & the Three Kings
A live online class exploring the folklore and folk magic of the Three Magi, and the various charms, rites, and spiritwork of their Feast of Epiphany.
7-9pm (ET), Sunday 4th January 2026
(This live online class will be recorded and sent out to all students after the live session)
The Feast of Epiphany, marking the appearance and gift-giving of the Three Wise Men, is replete with folklore and folk magic: from chalking the door with blessings for the coming year, to the festivities and living mysteries of Twelfth Night, King-cake, the culmination of the Twelve Days of Christmas and Misrule, wassailing, and the election of a King and Queen of the Twelfth itself.
Along with various observances of winter merry-making, there are a huge range of various Magian charms and rituals evidencing both grimoiric and folk magical expressions of the patronage of the Three Holy Kings and the Feast of their Adoration.
Such operations include divination and detection by divining rods, treasure-candles, and dream incubation; as well as magical garters for tireless travel, the purifications and exorcisms of the Smoke Nights, and much more besides.
In this class, Magi devotee and contemporary cunning-man Dr Alexander Cummins will present recent research into the folklore and folk magic of the Three Kings, and share some of his personal folk necromantic material for working with the wise and generous dead magicians who may gather under their aegis.
